Paris Fashion Week: Spring/Summer 2012 Favorites part two

Sonia Rykiel - Sonia kind of reminds me of the Parisian version of our Anna Sui or Betsey Johnson, just a little more wearable with a Parisian flair in my opinion. The ss 12 collection brought out fun and flirty pieces from their infamous suits, jumpsuits, and stripped dresses with a sunny palette of canary yellow, orange, ivory, and marmalade. A majority of the collection looks like it was inspired by classic 1920 and 1970 silhouettes with emphasis on stripes, floral motifs, slight cut outs, high slits, and pleat details. The overall look of the Sonia women...or girl that walked down the runway was soft, flirty, and well put together. View the full collection here.

Kenzo - After loving their fw 2011 collection, I thought Humberto Leon and Carol Lim of Opening Ceremony did a fantastic job with their ss 12 collection. The presentation took a more youthful approach with a twist of sportswear, which surprisingly took the collection to another level from it's previous years. With abstract patterns in strong hues of electric blue, bright green, and citrus orange, the Kenzo girl was definitely urban chic and not afraid of taking risks. Ugh, those sunnies and that crochet knitted number is beyond bananas. So far, it seems like the "new" Kenzo under Leon and Lim is proving to be a strong success for the already successful duo.

John Galliano - Despite his circumstances, I am extremely happy that his personal label was continued by British designer Bill Gaytten, who also designed Dior's ss 12 collection. Galliano is another one of my favorite designers for several reasons, his theatricality, excellence in details, and 1920's and 1930's aesthetic. It's no surprise Kate Moss chose her great friend to design her wedding gown. Gaytten did an incredible job keeping the label's romantic flirtatiousness and flair, which played a great tribute to the femininity Galliano is known for. I loved the brooches, the hats, and basically the overall looks of the entire collection. I could see Carrie Bradshaw...or SJP in all of them! View the full collection here.

Haider Ackermann - Definitely a dreamy and dark collection at Ackermann's ss 12 collection. A presentation that showcased another well-crafted collection that illustrated signature androgynous suiting and airy silk draping. The Ackermann woman displayed a moody palette of classic jewel tones from sapphire, amethyst to emerald in loose fitting shapes that were both modern and fashion forward. The collection ended with silvery tones with plunging necklines and pleating details, which surely impressed many. View the full collection here.

Givenchy - Just like Phoebe Philo over at Celine, Alber Elbaz at Lanvin, Isabel Marant, and Peter Dundas at Emilio Pucci, I'm a gigantic fan of Riccardo Tisci and his work at Givenchy. After his fw 11 and resort collection which were filled with a variety of prints, Tisci showcased a more toned down ss 12 collection with dramatic ruffles, classic Givenchy form-fitting silhouettes and tailored jackets. Touches of flashy glam was also present in the collection towards the end of the show with sequined embroidered pieces. The overall collection was brougt out by some of the top models of the industry with Natalia Vodianova, Erin Wasson, Saskia de Brauw, Frankie Rayder, and Gisele Bündchen who scored the final look. The last time Bündchen made an appearance on the Parisian catwalks was at the ss 11 collection for Balenciaga, which also landed her a position on the ss 11 campaign. Will we see the same for her and Givenchy? Probably. View the full collection here.
