Governors Ball Music Festival & Coachella

Governors-Ball-NYC lineup-poster.original
I've got tickets to both music festivals, but I'll be honest, I'm NOT impressed with this year's Coachella line up, which is so sad because I've attended Coachella for the past three years. The Governors Ball Music Festival on the other hand has my name written all over it! While I've seen Kanye, Kings of Leon, Azealia Banks, the XX, and Miguel live, they're so good live I'm dying to see them again. Plus, I'm excited to see Kendrick Lamar perform for the first time. I'm also very excited to start my inspiration board for my outfits. Can't wait to dress up like a hippie flower child!

Louis Vuitton // From the leopard printed coats to the color scheme, Louis Vuitton's menswear designer, Kim Jones, sent one hell of a collection down the runway last week. Leather will be a HUGE trend come FW 13 from pants to sleeve details, it's everywhere. It was very much present in this collection, but my favorite leather piece is hands down that coat. Absolutely beautiful.

Viktor and Rolf // I've never really been a fan of V&R, but I will say that I enjoyed their FW 13 collection. From the quirky prints to the thick frames, I saw myself wearing a lot of it. I thought the ensembles were young, clean, smart, and modern in terms of the fabrics and cuts. I enjoyed how contemporary the collection was, yet it wasn't boring or anything I haven't seen, I suppose it was fresh.

3.1 Phillip Lim // The wardrobe meant for all the cool boys; a collection that basically screamed street wear chic. I loved the play on mixed fabrics and patches. The thick zippered boots accented the the ensembles perfectly, but my favorite look from the collection was that 90's double breasted suit. AMAZING.

Valentino // I'm always excited to see what Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pier Paolo Piccioli will present during their menswear collection for the house of Valentino, because in a way, I feel like the clothes and essence of their menswear resonates with my true style. I'm very simple and clean cut when it comes to dressing, and I find the same goes for Valentino. If only my wardrobe consisted some of these pieces... for instance I'm mad for those plaid looks. I loved the green plaid they showcased along with all their leather coats. LEATHER!

Acne // These are my favorite looks from Acne's FW 13 collection. The entire head to toe looks are pure perfection in my opinion. Fun, quirky, and classic. You can't go wrong with that combination. I think I'm starting to label everything as fun, quirky and classic...oh well. I love how the neck scarf adds to the looks, something so simple and subtle, yet makes all the difference no? I scored a $35 Acne cardigan the other day, best find so far to date.

Junya Watanabe // I purchased my first Watanabe piece last fall and it's by far one of the best quality pieces in my closet. If there's one thing I love about Watanabe, it's the attention to detail and quality. The construction is OUT OF THIS WORLD, and I will always respect a designer who's work is incredibly detail oriented. While this collection is classic workman inspired, I can tell that the ensembles are impeccably well designed with the best of fabrics and construction. I loved the puffer toggle coat and the all the suits. GIMMIE!

Red Carpet: Kerry Washington

kwashred
For the past few months I've been taking notice of Kerry Washington and her selections for the red carpet. Needless to say, she's become quite a favorite of mine. Thanks to her stylist Erin Walsh, she's quickly gained noticed not only on my radar, but those who critique the red carpets. With looks from Giles, Louis Vuitton, Miu Miu, J Mendel, Chanel, and more, she's always a surprise, which is just how I like it on the red carpet. Plus she's pretty fearless in her choices, that Stella McCartney dress is perfect for her frame and her skin tone. NAILED IT.

Trussardi // From the color combination to the layering, I loved the bundled looks that walked down the runway of Trussardi's FW 13 collection. The looks from head to toe were so rich with color and texture, I was practically drooling. These days mix media coats and blazers are all the rage, and I loved the play on the sleeve, the pockets, and the sweaters. Who doesn't like a good mix when it comes to textures?

Costume National // Edgy, chic, and lots of rock and roll was the reccuring theme for Costume National's FW 13 Mens collection. I love the wide brimmed fedoras and all the leather pants...which thankfully seems to be a trend on the runways this FW 13 season. This collection was nothing short of cool. GIMMIE!

Missoni // Who doesn't love to be wrapped in a Missoni knit?! The warm colors easily look as inviting as does their suits. From tailored suits to fine gauged cozies, they've got the man's essentials covered while being completely wrapped in the Missoni DNA.

004-tilesalfw13 ferragamo-fall26 010-tilesalfw131 ferragamo-fall40

Salvatore Ferragamo // I'm usually dying over the coats at Burberry, but this season, I have to hand over to Massimiliano Giornetti and give him props, because these coats are absolutely MIND BLOWING. Giornetti sent so much depth and variety from leather jackets, pea coats, top coats, shearlings, and even capes, that I was completely amazed. While the proportion of the coats played with volume, I loved the compliment of the slim pants that accented the whole look. That last coat is beyond bananas.

022-tilevivwestmfw13 westwood-fall2 vivwestfw131 westwood-fall43

Vivienne Westwood // I'm always excited to see what comes down the runway at the Vivienne Westwood shows, because the clothes and usually the shows, are whimsical and classic Westwood. I love the mix of London street and classic British tailoring. Fashion isn't always serious, and I love how playful these collections are. Such a rad show, I WANT ALL THE CLOTHES!
